Island Solta Croatia

Island Solta

Šolta is a relatively small Dalmatian island, 4 kilometers wide and 20 kilometers long. In the peak of the tourist season it is quite populated, but not as overcrowded as the other Croatian islands. Traveling by ferry from Split to Solta takes less than one hour. The majority of the island still retains its old-value charm which can be seen from the architecture consisting mainly of old stone houses. Four or five old men always seated by the roadside often belong and add to the characteristic landscape as well.

If you want to buy yourself some fish from the local market, you can be sure that it was still swimming in the sea a night before. However, it is always recommended to wake up a bit earlier to get a nice piece for the grill.

Always just ask your host if you want to buy some homemade wine, olive oil, salted anchovies, honey, or liqueurs.
